Industrial Research Assistance Program (IRAP)
George Bacioiu is the Executive Director (acting) of the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC IRAP) for the Atlantic and Nunavut region. He joined in 2012.
Before becoming Executive Director for IRAP Atlantic & Nunavut, George served as an IRAP Industrial Technology Advisor (ITA). He became an NRC IRAP director in 2016, taking over the leadership of the Alberta North team and assuming responsibility for the northern part of the province and Northwest Territories.
Prior to joining NRC IRAP, George spent more than 20 years in industry and academia. He taught undergraduate and graduate courses at University of Windsor in both the faculty of engineering and the business school. George's industry experience includes various engineering and leadership positions in manufacturing and R&D in multi-national corporations, particularly in the area of system design and redesign, operations management, Lean, and Six Sigma. George has started his own companies, both in Canada and oversees, and has also worked as a consultant. He has travelled extensively in Asia, Europe and North America.
George's academic credentials include a PhD in Industrial & Manufacturing Systems Engineering (IMSE) from the University of Windsor as well as affiliations with the Association of Professional Engineers and other professional and industrial organizations.
