Industrial Research Assistance Program (IRAP)
Drew McNaughton is the Vice-President (acting) of the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC IRAP). Prior to this assignment, Drew was the Executive Director for IRAP Prairies region and joined NRC in 2015.
Before becoming Executive Director for IRAP Prairies, Drew had extensive experience in the private sector as an executive in multiple roles with Nortel Networks, including Vice President, Networks and Computing and Vice President, Wireless Networks Information Systems. At Axia NetMedia Corporation, he was Chief Operating Officer, Chief Technology Officer, and President of Axia France. He has also held several roles with Imperial Oil, and worked as a consultant.
With an extensive background in information technology and growing new businesses, Drew has worked in several regions of Canada, the USA and in France.
Drew has actively contributed to the Alberta innovation ecosystem as a board member or chair of several associations such as Technology Alberta, where he was President, and the ICT Council of Alberta as a Director. He was also a Director and chaired WITEC (Wireless and Telecom Association of Alberta). Previously, he was a Director with Canterra Seeds and an advisor to Kanatek in Ottawa.
Drew holds a Systems Design Engineering degree from the University of Waterloo and is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario.
