Combustion testing to , 2018

Description: Developmental testing of a gas turbine engine.

Time: We may test between and

Disturbance: Low level noise; low level of odours.

Location: North of Montreal Road campus, buildings M10 and M11.

New temporary entrance on Blair Road from , 2018 until December , 2018

Description: New temporary entrance to provide access for employees and service providers to buildings and the combined sewer system construction site located on the northeast side of the campus.

Time: From , 2018 until December , 2018.

Disturbance: Minimal, increased traffic during business hours on Blair Road north of Montreal Road.

Location: A new temporary entrance will be in place, across from Nicol Street, approximately 300 metres north of the Montreal Rd and Blair Rd intersection.

Equipment testing in October and November 2018

Description: Operating a thermal oxidizer as part of a battery safety test at Building M48.

Time: The test will be intermittent between 8 am and 7 pm on the following dates: October 26, 2018; November 1, 2018; November 13-16, 2018.

Disturbance: The tests may generate some noise.

Location: Building M48.

Ongoing construction work until April 2019

Description: Hydro One Networks Inc. and the NRC are currently undertaking a major upgrade of the existing main electrical sub-station serving the Montreal Road campus.

Time: The work is carried out between and Monday to Friday unless special circumstances dictate otherwise. It is expected to be fully completed by April 2019.

Disturbance: The work involves a variety of construction activities, including site preparation, the construction of a new building for electrical equipment, installation of outdoor pad-mounted electrical equipment and buried infrastructure including concrete manholes and electrical conduits. Throughout the course of the work, a variety of noise can be expected from various large equipment including excavators, loaders, trucks, cranes and vacuum trucks, depending on the nature of the work being performed.

Location: North side of Montreal Road, west of Blair Road, generally west of Fairview Lane and Davidson Drive.

Ongoing construction work until mid-spring 2019

Description: The NRC is currently undertaking a major upgrade of its existing combined sewer system on the north side of Montreal Road.

Time: The work is carried out between and Monday to Friday. It is expected to be completed by mid-spring 2019. Update: We anticipate periodic hoe-ramming of rock from October 9 until December 21.

Disturbance: Noise can be expected and some vibrations may be experienced from excavating equipment, hoe-ramming of rock, heavy earth moving machinery and increased truck traffic.

Location: North side of Montreal Road, west of Blair Road and north-west of Swans Way. The work is primarily focused towards the centre of the campus and the south-east corner towards Montreal Road and Blair Road.
