The Canadian Construction Materials Centre (CCMC) has turned 30 years old. It was formed in 1988 at the National Research Council to provide a national, centralized body of expertise in evaluating construction materials for construction code compliance. The CCMC offers its national evaluation service for all types of innovative building construction materials, products, systems and services.
In the thirty years since, the CCMC has processed more than 2,000 applications from more than 500 distributors and manufacturers around the world. Those that have met the rigors of the Canadian Construction Code wear their CCMC number proudly, as the CCMC number can facilitate approvals, and can accelerate the adoption of innovation in our built environment.
Since its inception, the CCMC has provided more than 1000 evaluations – accepted as the ‘gold standard’ by more than 3,500 municipal building officials from coast to coast. The Conference Board of Canada estimates that the work of the CCMC protects the health and safety of more than 3.3 million Canadians each year, generating $3.8 billion in Gross Domestic Product, and supporting 32,000 Canadian jobs.
Join us in celebrating the CCMC’s 30th anniversary.
