What happened to the NBC Supplement?

The Supplement to the National Building Code of Canada, published in 1980, 1985 and 1990 and containing material to help Code users apply the provisions in the Building and Fire Codes, will not be published in 1995. The material from the four chapters of the Supplement, updated for 1995, is now found in other documents.

WAS IS NOW
Chapter 1: Climatic Information for Building Design in Canada Appendix C of the 1995 Building Code
Chapter 2: Fire-Performance Ratings Appendix D of the 1995 Building Code
Chapter 3: Measures* for Fire Safety in High Buildings Appendix B of the 1995 Building Code
Chapter 4: Commentaries on Part 4 of the NBC New separate document: Structural Commentaries on the National Building Code of Canada 1995

* only Measure A, which applies to fully sprinklered buildings, has been incorporated in the NBC; this is because Part 3 now requires all high buildings to be fully sprinklered. Measures B to N for smoke control in high buildings have not been updated and can now be found only in the 1990 Supplement; these may be needed for the evaluation of existing buildings. The National Fire Code of Canada 1995 refers to Chapter 3 of the 1990 Supplement for the testing of measures for smoke control.
