We are looking for a vibrant and dynamic – Automotive Software/Controls Application Engineer, to support our Automotive and Surface Transportation portfolio. This individual will design, develop, integrate and evaluate new systems and architectures in the area of Connected and Autonomous Vehicles.

Screening criteria

Applicants must demonstrate within the content of their application that they meet the following screening criteria in order to be given further consideration as candidates:

Education

Bachelor’s in Engineering or in Science.

An advanced degree in Engineering or in Science will also be considered.

Experience

Experience in automotive product design/development experience, including:
• embedded software development
• automotive or similar controller hardware
• software, and serial data communications

Basic experience with technology in:
• connected/autonomous vehicles
• embedded software and/or communications protocols
• LANs
• vision systems

Experience in standard test and validation methods and analysis including data collection and analysis, overseeing data production, and ensuring data quality.

Experience in working in multi-disciplinary teams.

Experience in project management of complex engineering projects.

Experience in reading and debugging source code in C and MATLAB Simulink would be considered as an asset.

Candidates will be assessed on the basis of the following criteria:

Technical competencies:

• Knowledge in designing and developing software in an embedded domain
• Knowledge in software development
• Knowledge in designing and testing of automotive/manufacturing mechanical and electrical subsystems.
 

Behavioural competencies:

From the Technology Support cluster: 
• Initiative (Level 2)

Relocation

Relocation assistance will be determined in accordance with NRC's directives.

Salary range

  • This position is classified as a Research Council Officer (RCO), a group that is unique to the NRC. The RCO group uses a person-based classification system instead of the more common duties-based classification system. Candidates are remunerated based on their expertise, skill, outcomes and impacts of their previous work experience. The salary scale for this group is vast, from $49,670 to $140,418 per annum, which permits for employees of all levels from new graduates to world renowned experts to be fairly compensated for their contributions.
