Composite coatings for solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) interconnects
The NRC has developed a novel family of highly protective, conductive composite coatings for SOFC metallic interconnects for application at temperatures of up to 1000°C. The coatings are applied by a proprietary electrodeposition process on a variety of high-temperature alloy substrates, including stainless steels, Ni, Co and Fe-based superalloys and Cr-based alloys.
The composite/conductive coatings may be applied on a variety of substrate alloys for application in various SOFC stacks operating at temperatures ranging from 650 to 1000°C. Other applications include gas turbines, jet engine components and resistance heating.
