Electrical standards

Calibration services:

  • DC resistance from 10 µΩto 100 TΩ;
  • DC voltage from 100 µV to 100 kV;
  • AC voltage (ac-dc difference) from 0.002 V to 1000 V and 10 Hz to 1 MHz*;
  • AC resistance (ac-dc difference) from 2 mA to 100 A and 10 Hz to 100 kHz*;
  • AC capacitance from 0.001pF to 1 µF at 1 kHz;
  • AC inductance from 1 µH to 10 H at 1 kHz;
  • RF voltage (ac-dc difference) from 0.2 V to 50 V and from 0.1 MHz to 100 MHz*;
  • RF impedance (Z/Zo) from 0.5 to 2.0 from 250 MHz to 18 GHz;
  • RF attenuation to 60 dB at frequencies from 1 MHz to 36 GHz;
  • RF power from 1 µW to 10 mW from 1 MHz to 40 GHz;

*not all combinations are available

A number of other measurements can be performed by special arrangement.

Client calibrations are only scheduled in April, May, June, October, November, and December. Calibrations may begin in other months, but only by special arrangement. To assure minimum delays, please contact us before sending calibration equipment to NRC. Measurements are normally performed in oil at 25°C, in air at 23°C, or at room temperature, typically 20°C to 23°C and approximately 40 percent relative humidity. Please specify required conditions when ordering.

Note that the calibration costs quoted DO NOT include shipping, insurance or the cost of a customs broker. The client must arrange and pay for these services separately.

DC resistors

A33-02-03-03 Resistor ≥ 100 kΩ and ≤ 1 GΩ. This service determines the resistance of a resistor ≥ 100 kΩ and ≤ 1 GΩ in air at 23 °C or 25 °C at a specified test voltage (1000 V maximum). $1075

A33-02-04-04 One resistor or range, additional currents. The resistance of the resistor, or the range of the multi-range resistor used in A33-02-04-01 above, is measured at one or more additional currents. This service applies only when carried out at the same time and under the same conditions as for the original test. $605
A33-02-04-05 One resistor or range, additional time intervals. The resistance of the resisto,r or the range of the multi-range resistor used in A33-02-04-01 above, is measured at one or more additional time intervals of electrification. This service applies only when carried out at the same time and under the same conditions as for the original test. $260
A33-02-04-06 Resistance of a metal rod conductivity standard. The resistance of a metal rod conductivity standard is measured. The measurement is done only at room temperature. Rod length must not exceed 700 mm. $1230

Inductance measurements

A33-02-05-01 Fixed inductor, one frequency. This service determines the series self inductance of a fixed inductor at one frequency. $460

Inductors with non-magnetic cores are normally measured at a specified temperature in the range 20 °C to 25 °C and at frequencies of 100 Hz, 400 Hz, or 1000 Hz.

Capacitance measurements

Capacitance is normally measured at a specified temperature in the range 20 °C to 25 °C and at frequencies of 1000 Hz.

AC-DC transfer

Thermal transfer standards and thermal converters can be calibrated between 0.002 volt and 1000 volts at frequencies between 10 Hz and 1 MHz. Not all combinations of frequency and voltage are available. Alternating current four-terminal shunts normally used with the thermal devices described above may be calibrated up to 100 A and 100 kHz.

RF attenuation

A33-02-08-03 Additional attenuators (coaxial). Insertion loss is determined for additional attenuators (if coaxial) at the frequency already used for measurement of the first attenuator. A33-02-08-04 Attenuator insertion loss, additional frequency. The insertion loss of one attenuator is determined at each additional frequency in the octave or waveguide frequency band already used for measurement in A33-02-08-01. This service is available only when performed at the same time and under the same conditions as the original test. $580
A33-02-08-05 Attenuation, variable or switched attenuator, 60 MHz - 36 GHz. A determination is made of the attenuation of one differential setting of a variable or switched attenuator at one frequency in the range 60 MHz to 36 GHz. $1545
A33-02-08-06 Attenuator, additional differential setting 60 MHz - 36 GHz. This service covers each additional differential setting at the frequency already used for measurement during the initial test (A33-02-08-05). It is available only when performed at the same time and under the same conditions as the original test. $580
A33-02-08-07 Variable attenuator, additional insertion loss. The insertion loss is determined at one setting of a variable attenuator, at the frequency already used for measurement in A33-02-08-05. This service is available only when performed at the same time and under the same conditions as the original test. $580
A33-02-08-08 Attenuator, additional frequency. Each additional frequency is determined in the frequency band already used for measurement of the first differential setting in A33-02-08-05. This service is available only when performed at the same time and under the same conditions as the original test. $580
A33-02-08-09 Attenuation, 1 MHz - 60 MHz. A determination is made of one attenuation value at one frequency within the range 1 MHz to 60 MHz. $1160
A33-02-08-10 Additional attenuation values. Additional attenuation values can be determined at the same frequency for the attenuator used in A33-02-08-09, if measured at the same time and under the same conditions as the original test. $195

RF impedance
