Railway Instrumented Wheelsets
The Centre for Surface Transportation Technology custom-builds railway instrumented wheelsets using technology perfected by the Deutsche Bundesbahn research centre in Germany.
Continuous Measurement
When mounted on railway cars, these wheelsets continuously measure the forces and moments at the rail/wheel contact point in all three axes.
The Centre's wheelsets are sold and used more and more to test and certify prototype freight and passenger cars, troubleshoot car dynamics and running gear, monitor and evaluate trackage, and investigate derailments.

With CSTT instrumented wheelsets, you get a full range of support services, including calibration, maintenance, repair, operation, training, and data analysis. You can also benefit from our engineering tests and services to solve any problems with car designs or components identified during your testing.
