Response to Parliamentary Committees

NRC made three appearances before Parliamentary Committees in 2011‑12.

  1. To the Standing Senate Committee onEnergy, the Environment and Natural Resources: The current state and future of Canada’s energy sectorNRC was represented by Dr. Ian Potter (on some of the technology innovations being developed at NRC to support Canada’s energy, environment and natural resources sectors). This took place on 15 November 2011.
  2. To the Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities: Emerging transportation technologiesNRC was represented by Dr.Ian Potter (on how NRC addresses the complexities of our national transportation infrastructure and safer and more environmentally responsible transportation for Canadians). This took place on 28 February 2012.
  3. To the Standing Committee on Official Languages (LANG): Roadmap for Canada’s Linguistic Duality 2008‑2013: Acting for the FutureNRC was represented by Dr. Dan Wayner (with a view to improving programs and service delivery). This took place on 8 March 2012.
Response to the Auditor General (including to the Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainable Development)
There were no performance audits completed by the Auditor General in 2011‑12.
External Audits (Note: These refer to other external audits conducted by the Public Service Commission of Canada or the Office of the Commissioner of Official Languages)
NRC provided information to the Office of the Commissioner of the Environment, part of the Office of the Auditor General, for the Study on the Federal Support to the Fossil Fuel Sector. This was not an audit but rather a request for information.
