PMC Canada (PubMed Central Canada)
Making Canadian health research accessible to all
PMC Canada is a free on-line archive of published, peer-reviewed health and life sciences research that allows users to quickly and easily search and download the latest health research papers. It serves as an important part of Canada's research infrastructure, creating a permanent archive for Canadian health research that helps researchers build on one another's work and speed up the discovery and innovation process to address important health challenges.
Launched in 2009, PMC Canada is a partnership between the National Research Council's national science library, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), and the US National Library of Medicine (NLM). It builds on the PMC (U.S.) archive developed by NLM and joins Europe PMC as a member of the larger PMC International network. PMC Canada connects researchers to this international network, making much of PMC and Europe PMC content accessible to them.
PMC Canada supports the Tri-Agency Open Access Policy on Publications which requires CIHR grant recipients to make their peer-reviewed publications freely accessible online within twelve months of publication. To facilitate the archiving of these manuscripts, PMC Canada includes a manuscript submission system that enables researchers to deposit and manage their CIHR-funded research while exposing it to a global audience and facilitating collaboration to advance health research.
