Indoor Air Quality Emission Simulation Tool (IA-QUEST) -- Version 1.1

National Research Council Canada (NRC/IRC) launched a series of projects called "Consortium of Material Emissions and Indoor Air Quality Modeling (CMEIAQ)" with the overall goal of developing guidelines for indoor material selection and ventilation strategies to meet specific indoor air quality requirements. One of the major outcomes of the project was an Indoor Air Quality Emission Simulation Tool (IA-QUEST).

IAQUEST

What does the Software do?

The software consists of two parts: database and simulation. The database provides information regarding the emission ("off-gassing") of 90 "Target" volatile organic compounds (VOCs), "Abundant" VOCs and TVOC (total VOC) from 69 building materials commonly used in Canada. Specimen details and test conditions are available as well. The simulation part is to predict the indoor air concentrations in a room for given materials from the database and defined ventilation conditions/strategies.

Who can use it?

Different types of users are expected to benefit from the package, and include manufacturers of building materials interesting in evaluation/development of products; building designers, renovators and managers interested in creating low-VOC environments for their occupants; researchers.
