Streaming Agents and Portable Extinguishers
The Fire Research Program has completed a series of full-scale fire tests of portable fire extinguishers (HFC-227ea, HFC-236fa, CF3I, HCFC Blend B, CO2 and dry chemicals) using Class B heptane pool fires to evaluate their performance as replacements for halon extinguishers. Test results provide performance data and also demonstrate the need to protect extinguisher operators and other personnel from intense heat and toxic gas products.
