Compressed-Air Foam Technology
Important progress has been made in compressed-air foam technology for fire fighting. The Fire Research Program researchers have overcome major technical difficulties in effectively forming and delivering foam through fixed steel piping systems. The compressed-air foam technology can now be used to effectively suppress various types of industrial fires at vast cost savings. The water requirement has been reduced. An engineering guide has been developed for the design of compressed-air foam systems.
