IT-based decision technology
The IT-based Decision Technology program conducts research on cancer and neurological diseases, and the detection and management of the spread of infectious diseases and focuses on three areas: classification of disease-related biomedical data, biomedical image processing, and modeling of disease spread. The program develops information-based technologies that integrate information science, mathematics and statistics with the study of disease research to assist in developing more accurate and robust diagnostic procedures.
Improved automated IT-based decision support systems, coupled with advances in both personalized and evidence-based medicine, have the potential to substantially enhance disease diagnosis and management resulting in shorter waits times and stronger delivery of services.
