Aging Aircraft Structures
IAR researchers are working with industry and government collaborators to deal with the whole range of aging aircraft issues, including corrosion and fatigue damage. The goal is to move from a "find-and-fix" approach to "predict-and-manage". This will be a real step forward in maintenance, repair and overhaul.
The research focuses on developing new tools and systems to predict the impact of damage on structural integrity, improve corrosion resistance, and repair damaged structures.
