Since 1995, the Centre for Surface Transportation Technology has operated as an autonomous profit center of the National Research Council of Canada.
Highly successful in earning the business of private and public sector clients in Canada and around the world, CSTT is in growth mode – expanding its staff of highly qualified engineers, technicians and managers to meet rapidly growing demands for its world-class services.

Three Specialized Divisions
At the heart of CSTT's business model are three business divisions, each specializing in a particular aspect of transportation technology.
CSTT's Rail Division helps clients optimize the design of railcars and components, and develop and implement leading new maintenance strategies for track and rolling stock.
The Road Vehicle and Military Systems Division (RVMS) solves problems and improves performance by engineering and testing vehicle and military systems, and by designing and prototyping new solutions.
CSTT's Climatic Engineering and Testing Division provides facilities and services to test the performance of vehicles and equipment under an exceptionally wide variety of climatic conditions – from high Arctic cold to desert hot.
In-House R&D
CSTT's R&D group – Advanced Products and Technology – puts CSTT technology to work in new product and technology concept development, design, prototyping, evaluation and production, in partnership with CSTT divisions and private companies.
Together, these business divisions draw on a comprehensive suite of advanced facilities and services to meet the most demanding test and design requirements in the transportation industry.
