Centre of the Universe

Victoria, British Columbia V9E 2E7
Due to financial constraints and operational priorities, the Centre of the Universe Interpretative Centre suspended its outreach activities effective August 24, 2013.
Community-based groups are now working with NRC to explore options for future operations and two short-term solutions are now in place: Science Venture, the University of Victoria's science outreach program, is running astronomy and space-themed camps for children and youth in grades three to eight this summer. NRC is providing rent-free use of the Centre of the Universe building to facilitate this pilot project; the second solution is from the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada. Volunteers from the Society will run public Saturday night observing on July 5, 12, and 19, August 2, 9, and 16, and September 6, 2014, from 8 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. PT each evening. This will be a free public event. We hope that our experience with pilot projects such as these will serve the community as we continue to explore options for future activities.
