Mechtronix Systems Inc. recognized as a Canadian Innovation Leader

August 06, 2010 — Montréal, Quebec

Airline pilots will have access to better training, thanks to a new investment in a Montréal business by the Government of Canada.  The announcement was made by the Honourable Christian Paradis, Minister of Natural Resources, on behalf of the Honourable Gary Goodyear, Minister of State (Science and Technology).

“Our government is investing in science and technology to create good jobs, strengthen the economy and improve Canadians’ quality of life,” said Minister Paradis. “This investment will help develop new technology and offer improved training tools for pilots, airlines and flight schools.”

Mechtronix Systems Inc. will receive $485,000 from the National Research Council of Canada’s Industrial Research Assistance Program to develop better visual displays on flight simulators used for pilot training.  The company will work in conjunction with the University of Laval on this innovative research and development project to enhance the quality, accuracy and rigidity of specialized visual systems for their flight simulators.

A Canadian Innovation Leader Certificate was also presented to Mechtronix Systems Inc. to highlight its success as an innovative Canadian firm that has successfully linked scientific research to commercialization, jobs and economic growth.

Canada’s Economic Action Plan provided new resources of $200 million to the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program over two years to support innovative Canadian firms. To learn more, visit Canada’s Economic Action Plan website.
