Five NRC-IIT employees have received the NRC Outstanding Achievement Award. Joel Martin, Randall Milburn, Michel Mellinger, Chengbi Dai and Lynn Wei were honoured by NRC for a partnership secured with NStein Technologies and specifically for the innovative technology transfer methodology used to maintain the partnership.
For years, the NRC-IIT Ottawa-Gatineau team worked tenaciously at forming the relationship and establishing the agreements with Nstein. As a result, in December 2006, Canadian-based Nstein Technologies Inc. announced the signing of a ten-year technology license agreement, and a three-year collaborative research agreement to use NRC’s “Factor” text mining technology.
Developed by NRC-IIT, Factor sets the standard for a new information discovery and retrieval experience. This technology makes semantic searches customizable and interactive, meaning it leverages the power of linguistic-based text analytics like no other technology can.
Factor is one leading-edge search tool from the suite that is already achieving success for NRC-IIT. Through one of the biggest commercialization deals established at NRC-IIT, Nstein Technologies Inc. is commercializing Factor to create business success.
The NRC Outstanding Achievement Awards give corporate-level recognition to employees who have made an outstanding contribution to NRC. NRC-IIT recipients received their award during a ceremony held at the Canada Science and Technology Museum in Ottawa
