NRC to Fly World’s First Civil Aircraft Powered by 100% Biojet Fuel

Supporting Sustainable Energy Solutions and the Biofuel Manufacturing Industry

Business and government leaders are gathering with experts at the National Research Council of Canada's (NRC) biofuel flight test facility to showcase NRC’s Falcon 20 twin engine jet, the World’s first civil aircraft to fly on 100 percent biojet fuel.

The T-33 aircraft that will test engine performance and emissions on this first flight will also be showcased. There will be a guided tour. The biojet fuel will be on display along with the oilseed crop grown to produce it.

The biojet fuel will help grow new markets and drive rural economies. It’s a major step towards advancing sustainable sources of renewable energy. Over 40 commercial farmers in Canada have been contracted to grow 6,000 acres of crop to manufacture biofuel.

Following the event, experts and pilots will be available to the media.
