Porous Carbon Sphere Fabricated by Ultrasonic Spray Pyrolysis

Summary

Porous carbon sphere (PCS) is a new type of carbon material produced by a proprietary (patent pending) template-assisted ultrasonic spray pyrolysis (USP) technique, developed by the National Research Council's Institute for Fuel Cell Innovation (NRC-IFCI). The USP is a cost effective and scalable technique for manufacturing porous sphere materials through continuous processing.

The PCS is a versatile carbon material with consistent controllable surface area and porosity. This makes it a material of choice for catalytic and electrochemical applications sensitive to catalyst structure and active surface area: catalyst support for fuel cells, electrode for lithium ion batteries and supercapacitors, and for hydrogen storage.
