Fae Shaw, Partner, McInnes Cooper, Barristers and Solicitors, Halifax is a very active part of the business and volunteer community in Atlantic Canada. As a member of McInnes Cooper's Finance Group, Fae advises a variety of business clients on corporate, commercial and finance matters and regularly assists clients with securities law compliance and enforcement issues.
Fae is the Nova Scotia Editor of Butterworths Canadian Forms and Precedents – "Private Placements". She is also a Director and Past President of Entrepreneurs' Forum, an Atlantic Canada non-profit organization providing mentoring to SMEs. She is also the Secretary of the Atlantic Institute for Market Studies and Past Chair of the Securities Law section of the Canadian Bar Association, Nova Scotia Branch as well as Past Chair of the Securities Law Subsection of the Canadian Bar Association (Nova Scotia Branch). As well, Fae is a past director of the Halifax YWCA and the Victoria General Hospital Foundation.
In her work as a Director and Past President of Entrepreneurs' Forum, an organization that has been an IRAP network member for many years, she showed a superior ability to assist in the growth and development of the organization from a small organization operating only in Halifax, to a well-established non-profit group operating in 4 Atlantic Provinces. Fae continues to serve EF in a variety of capacities, including providing legal advice to the Board as well as a volunteer advisor and mentor to SMEs who encounter challenges in forming partnerships and dealing with many business issues. Fae brings an incisive mind to all Board discussions, encouraging attention to details and a thorough exploration of ideas that may have significant impact on the organization. She brings a keen awareness of the implications of Board level decisions on clients. Fae is a hands-on participant in whatever task she takes on. She is leader, providing a calm and collected voice in all debates and helps groups ensure that whatever decision that they make is the right choice for the long-term goals of the organization.
