NRC-IOT is Canada's national centre for ocean technology research & development. It was established in 1985 to support the development of innovative technologies in the private sector and to assist oceans-related public initiatives. The Institute's capability is unique to the nation — no other organization offers the combination of knowledge, experience and world-class facilities. Research is conducted on technologies for use in ocean observation, marine safety, Arctic operations and performance evaluation.
