Science Outreach for Students |
|||
|
Apart from aiding companies in direct ways, NRC-INH is a training ground for students and future entrepreneurs. Students in bioscience programs at Holland College and UPEI gain work experience alongside highly skilled staff during summer, co-op, graduate and on-the-job placements at NRC. As well, NRC-INH employees share their passion for science through activities targeting high school and elementary students. The research teams mentor and judge students for the Sanofi-Aventis BioTalent Challenge and PEI’s regional and provincial science fairs. In 2009, elementary and secondary schools requested NRC-INH staff visits for their classes. Lastly, NRC organizes BioQuest each October and invites grade-five students to try hands-on bioscience experiments tied to the school curriculum and research underway on the Island. |
