Working in collaboration with industry and academia, IMS performs R&D into emerging information technologies in the areas of organic and inorganic semiconductor-based electronics and photonics. The last decade has seen a revolution in the ease with which we can communicate visually and verbally from the farthest corners on the planet. The next decade may well be that of ubiquitous and intelligent sensors that monitor our health as well as that of the planet. Through its programs and projects in the areas of Communications, Health, Energy/Environment and Security, IMS will advance the frontiers of knowledge and help Canadian industry thrive in these globally competitive sectors.
The National Research Council Institute for Microstructural Sciences (NRC-IMS) conducts research in quantum, electronic, and photonic properties of leading edge materials.
