His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, visited the National Research Council of Canada in Nova Scotia on June 1.

NRC-IMB is dedicated to improving the health of Canadians and to examining the potential for algae to become a renewable source of energy for Canada’s environment and economy. Our multidisciplinary approach is focused on biofuels and value-added products from algae, marine bioactives for human health and wellness, functional genomics and biomarker technologies, as well as reference materials for marine biotoxins.
Certified Reference Materials Program
The Certified Reference Materials Program of the National Research Council operates out of two institutes, the Institute for Marine Biosciences (IMB) in Halifax and the Institute for National Measurement Standards (INMS) in Ottawa. CRMP at IMB offers certified reference materials (CRMs) for both marine and freshwater biotoxins.
Established in 1976, CRMP has proven to be a vital source of CRMs for analysts worldwide. We are a world leader and sole producer of biotoxin CRMs.
