The Covington Fellowship is tenable at the Dominion Radio Astrophysical Observatory (DRAO) located just to the south of the city of Penticton, in the southern part of the Okanagan Valley, British Columbia. DRAO is one of two locations for NRC-HIA, the other location is in Victoria, at the DAO.
At DRAO there are ~40 scientists, engineers, technologists and support staff working on a number of projects, including:
- Canadian Galactic Plane Survey
- International Galactic Plane Survey
- DRAO Planck Deep Field
- DRAO-MPI Rotation Measure Survey
- VLA Galactic Plane Survey
- CORNISH VLA-5GHz survey of High-mass star formation
- Expanded Very Large Array Correlator
- Australia SKA Pathfinder
- Square Kilometre Array
- Solar Monitoring program
In addition to these projects, many staff are involved in other initiatives, e.g., EVLA, LOFAR, ASTROSAT, and also participate in a number of international review committees eg. Science Advisory Group for the EVLA (SAGE), SKA Engineering Working Group (SEWG).
