The Sussex Drive Industry Partnership Facility exists to foster and assist new ventures using NRC technologies or expertise, thereby providing economic gain to Canada, particularly to the National Capital Region. The IPF will provide facilities, services and professional expertise that promotes the establishment of a successful venture.

To be considered, an applicant must be a technology-based business with a novel product or process, preferably based on NRC technologies and/or working with NRC-SIMS and/or NRC-IBS within a formal R&D collaboration aggreement. The applicant may be either exploring a venture with plans to develop a new business or looking at expanding an existing enterprise into a new area. Consulting, wholesale or retail businesses will not be considered for admission. Selection will be based on a match between the candidate's business and the entry criteria.

The first step in admission to the IPF is the submission of an Expression of Interest by the business. This form provides information which will help assess whether there is a good fit between the candidate business and the overall mission of the IPF. At this point an IPF Manager or Institute designated champion will work with the business in producing the necessary documentation to submit a formal request to the IPF Selection Committee. The Champion will tailor the submission so that the individual needs of the business are addressed as well as provide the business with a contact point for any questions or concerns. Agreements as required by the specialized needs of the business are drawn up and agreed to by both parties. This might include the space requirements, within a license to occupy space, and the terms of any collaboration with the NRC Institutes.
