Guidelines

The NRC-IPF Ottawa was established to facilitate the transfer of NRC technology and research activities to R&D companies. Activities are undertaken in collaboration with NRC. Collaborations should provide economic gains to Canada.

To be considered for the NRC-IPF, an applicant must be:

  • A technology-based business with a novel product or process in the ICT sector and
  • Exploring a venture with plans to develop a new business or looking at expanding an existing enterprise into a new area.

Selection will be based on a match between the candidate’s business and the entry criteria.

Procedures

Below is a guide to the procedure that you would follow to gain entry into the NRC-IPF.

  1. As a potential tenant you indicate an interest in the NRC-IPF by speaking with a representative of the research institutes supporting the NRC-IPF or the manager of the Facility. During this initial conversation you will learn the goals and priorities of the NRC-IPF, as well as the steps to proceed and we will learn what your expectations and requirements are.
  2. Submit an Expression of Interest form.
  3. A Champion is assigned to interface between the client and NRC-IPF.
  4. With the Champion's guidance you will complete the necessary documentation to give the Selection Committee the information they need to evaluate your submission by the criteria listed in the next section.
  5. Agreement forms (e.g. Licence to Occupy Premises , Invitee Access Agreement, Collaborative R&D Agreement, Agreement for Licensing of NRC Technology including royalty payments) relevant to your individual requirements will be completed once your submission is approved by the Steering Committee and will state when occupancy in the NRC-IPF will begin.
  6. Move into the NRC-IPF
