Canis Minor was the smaller of Orion's two hunting dogs.
The brightest star in Canis Minor is called Procyon, which means "before the dog." It probably got that name because it rises just before Sirius, the Dog Star. Procyon is part of the Winter Triangle, along with Sirius in Canis Major and Betelgeuse in Orion.
