This is a 1:30 sectional model of the deck of a bridge that would link Sicily and mainland Italy across the Strait of Messina. In 2010, researchers tested this scale model inside the National Research Council's 9-metre by 9-metre wind tunnel. The goal was to define the deck's aerodynamic characteristics and its response to wind loading.
