Second generation of thin-film technology embedded in ID cards and drivers’ licenses.

In the early 2000s, a second generation of thin-film technology was embedded into Canadian banknote paper as a thin metallic thread. This technology was also embedded in ID cards and drivers’ licenses to help protect them from fraud.
