The NRC Strategy and Development Branch (NRC-SDB) provides professional, corporate management services, products and leadership to support NRC's business objectives and Government of Canada priorities.

Leveraging their understanding of NRC and its environment, NRC-SDB employees:

  • Manage NRC's corporate policy, strategy and business planning activities to support NRC's objectives, as well as Government of Canada priorities and initiatives
  • Facilitate relations with international organizations, identifying new outreach opportunities, negotiating bilateral and multilateral agreements, and coordinating international activities
  • Develop and deliver corporate evaluations, assessments, audits, plans and reports
  • Design, plan and lead NRC, interdepartmental, and intergovernmental horizontal initiatives and special projects
  • Position and promote NRC within government, in Canada and abroad
  • Plan, coordinate and support community-based innovation and technology cluster development, road mapping and technology foresight activities
  • Represent NRC interests and manage collaborations with other federal agencies and departments, and with central agencies
  • Advocate for new national research facilities and initiatives and manage operational and policy issues for NRC's investments in large-scale research infrastructure
  • Lead and prepare regulatory submissions and statutory reports on behalf of NRC

NRC-SDB supports internal and external stakeholders, decision makers and clients. The Branch offers expertise in the sciences, business, the arts and public sector management, coupled with extensive experience in planning, policy, evaluation, project management, communications, international relations, stakeholder relations and the management of science-based organizations.
