Julie Ducharme

Human Health Therapeutics
Dr. Julie Ducharme was appointed General Manager of NRC’s Human Health Therapeutics portfolio in August 2012. Before joining NRC, she worked for more than 17 years in the pharmaceutical industry, including 15 years at AstraZeneca in Montréal, where she led local and global teams of up to 250 scientists. Most recently, Dr. Ducharme was Executive Director of Analgesia Projects and Site Head at AstraZeneca.
An expert in the fields of drug metabolism, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, Dr. Ducharme has more than 10 years of experience in clinical research, in both academia and industry. She has worked in several disease areas including analgesia, anesthesia, neuroscience, cancer and infection. Since 1998, she has been an adjunct professor of pharmacy at the Université de Montréal.
Dr. Ducharme earned her BPharm, MSc and PhD degrees at the Université de Montréal, and held post-doctoral fellowships at McGill University and the Université de Paris. Her publications include more than 40 scientific papers and book chapters.
