François took over the leadership of the Engineering division in January 2017, with responsibility for oversight of the following five research groups: Construction; Aerospace; Ocean, Coastal and River Engineering; Automotive and Surface Transportation; and Energy, Mining and Environment, as well as for the new Canadian Centre for Advanced Manufacturing initiative.
François joined NRC in 2013, as the General Manager of the NRC Information and Communications Technologies portfolio and then as Vice-President of the Emerging Technologies – Platforms division. Prior to that, François was heavily involved in the high-tech sector, as President of Roctest Ltd. and its subsidiary FISO Technologies Inc., and through various leadership positions at Mitel Corporation including Senior VP and General-Manager of its semiconductor division. He was involved in many acquisitions throughout the world.
François is a graduate from Sherbrooke University in electrical engineering and holds a master's degree in the same field from Waterloo University, as well as a diploma in Business Administration from Sherbrooke University.
