The CCBFC approved reviewing current requirements for construction using insulated concrete forms.
This year’s annual meeting of the Canadian Commission on Building and Fire Codes (CCBFC) took place in Winnipeg on February 24 and 25, 2013. During the meeting, the Commission approved several tasks for addition to the work plans of its Standing Committees. These decisions included:
- adding new tasks (air leakage of doors, building energy estimation methodology, water temperature control and insulated concrete forms)
- expanding the scope of two existing tasks (spatial separations for new houses, low permeance materials in the building envelope), and
- reviewing standards for external gypsum panels as well as sheet steel products.
The CCBFC also heard a presentation on the proposed changes being developed by the various standing committees, and which are expected to proceed to the fall 2013 public review. This public review will contain most of the changes intended for the 2015 codes, including a first-ever series of provisions related to water-use efficiency.
