Your Challenge
The Facility Manager provides management and leadership to a team of Fire Research Technical Officers whose roles involve the design and construction of experimental setup, the construction of experimental samples, conducting full-scale tests and the maintenance of the multi-million dollar full-scale fire test facility in Almonte, Ontario.
The incumbent of this position will be responsible for developing and reviewing proposals related to experimental testing, for scheduling the workload of the technical staff, for overseeing the safe and efficient operation of the facilities, for maintenance of the facilities and long-term investment planning and for communicating with the Fire Research Unit (FR) researchers and their partners/clients.
We are looking for someone who will work independently with minimum supervision in a multi-disciplinary team environment to achieve the Fire Research goals.

Screening Criteria
Applicants must demonstrate within the content of their application that they meet the following screening criteria in order to be given further consideration as candidates:
Education
College diploma in Civil or other Engineering disciplines.
Experience
Extensive experience managing a laboratory or large facility;
Extensive experience supervising and managing a team;
Extensive experience in the planning and conducting of full scale testing;
Significant experience in project management including planning, organizing, leading, and controlling project resources;
Significant experience in dealing with multi-discipline clients.

Assessment Criteria
Candidates will be assessed on the basis of the following criteria:
Technical Competencies:
Knowledge of full-scale testing techniques;
Knowledge of project management principles;
Knowledge of the use of PC-based data acquisition systems such as AutoCAD, SigmaPlot and LabView based software;
Ability to manage a multi discipline technical team;
Ability to manage large scale laboratory equipment;
Knowledge of health and safety procedures required in fire testing.

Relocation
Relocation assistance will be determined in accordance with NRC's directives.
Salary Range
From $79,745 to $94,359 per annum plus the Bilingualism Bonus of $800 a year.
