General Manager, Automotive - Boucherville, QC

Working with clients and partners, the National Research Council Canada provides strategic research, innovation support, scientific and technical services to develop and deploy solutions to meet Canada's current and future industrial and societal needs. Guided by our core values of impact, accountability, leadership, integrity and collaboration, NRC is a dynamic and vibrant organization that, in its ongoing evolution, is seeking a General Manager for the Automotive research unit.

Your Challenge

NRC is seeking General Managers who will ensure research units' activities such as large scale research programs are aligned with NRC’s strategic goals.  The impact of these activities is to realize a major return on investment and generate economic, social and environmental benefits to Canadians, and ultimately create long-term sustainability for the organization. General Managers will also be accountable for the management of human resources and securing financial resources for the research units' activities.

This position will appeal to someone who will have deep industry or technology expertise and possesses strong relationships across an industry or technology area. 

Screening Criteria

Applicants must demonstrate within the content of their application that they meet the following screening criteria in order to be given further consideration as candidates:

Education

Masters degree in Engineering, Business or in an area related to the specific research unit.

Experience

Experience in developing, maintaining and leveraging strategic partnerships, research collaborations and client relationships with industrial research partners including technology organizations, private sector firms, government departments/agencies, and academia, at the local, national and international levels.

Significant experience in generating revenue within an organization’s strategic framework.

Significant and recent experience in leading multidisciplinary R&T teams and programs within a large, complex organization.

Recent and significant experience in the development, marketing and transfer of technology from scientific organizations to industry.

Experience in developing and implementing strategic business plans.

Recent and significant management experience including human resources management, financial management and project management.

Equivalency

An equivalent combination of education at the Bachelor's level and significant experience in the duties of this position will be considered.

Language Requirements

Bilingual imperative CBC/CBC

Note: In the event that no qualified bilingual candidates are identified, NRC may consider unilingual candidates who will be required to commit to achieving these levels within two years.

Salary Range

From $125,300 to $155,000 per annum.
