Background
Working with clients and partners, the National Research Council Canada provides strategic research, innovation support, scientific and technical services to develop and deploy solutions to meet Canada's current and future industrial and societal needs. Guided by our core values of impact, accountability, leadership, integrity and collaboration, NRC is a dynamic and vibrant organization that, in its ongoing evolution, is seeking a Media Relations Officer.
Your Challenge
The Media Relations Officer (IS-3) is primarily responsible for planning and coordinating media events. Working closely with members of the Media Relations Team and of the Communications Branch, the officer develops media products (news releases, advisories, backgrounders, scenarios…), responds to media requests and contacts reporters to solicit their interest or pitch stories. The officer also coordinates with Industry Canada, updates calendars of events, coordinates the approval of media products, produces media analyses on demand, and reports on media relations activities daily. The officer may also contribute to efforts deployed in responding to crises and emergencies.
Screening Criteria
Applicants must demonstrate within the content of their application that they meet the following screening criteria in order to be given further consideration as candidates:
Education
Graduation with a degree from a recognized university or college with an acceptable specialization in communications, journalism, or related discipline.
Experience
Experience in writing and editing media and/or communications products;
Experience in planning news conferences or events;
Experience in responding to public or media enquiries;
Experience in media monitoring and analysis may be considered an asset.

Relocation
Relocation assistance will be determined in accordance with NRC's directives.
Salary Range
From $60,921 to $65,496 per annum plus the Bilingualism Bonus of $800 a year.
