Your challenge

Help bring research to life and drive your career forward with the National Research Council of Canada (NRC), Canada's premier research and technology organization.

The model codes – the National Building Code, the National Fire Code, the National Plumbing Code, and the National Energy Code for Buildings – are now collectively referred to as “Codes Canada.” Codes Canada are developed by experts, for experts, through a collaborative process that is 75 years in the making. They build on the best expertise from across Canada and around the world to provide effective building and safety regulations that are harmonized across Canada.

These quasi-judicial, technical documents are accessed by thousands of practitioners in the construction industry so the quality standards are very high.

We are looking for a vibrant and dynamic Technical Translator to support our Construction Portfolio. The Technical Translator would be someone who shares our core values of impact, accountability, leadership, integrity and collaboration.

The Technical Translator produces high quality technical translations from English into French of printed and electronic documents published by Codes Canada, the National Master Specification (NMS) and the Canadian Construction Materials Centre (CCMC).  This includes proposed change forms, intent statements, user’s guides, complementary code documents (agendas and correspondence), promotional materials, listings, evaluation reports and texts for Codes Canada and CCMC Websites.  The incumbent also edits contract translations, and performs other duties as necessary.
