Background
Working with clients and partners, the National Research Council Canada provides strategic research, innovation support, scientific and technical services to develop and deploy solutions to meet Canada's current and future industrial and societal needs. Your Challenge
The Portfolio Business Advisor (PBA) provides business leadership to the Portfolio and its external clients and collaborators. The PBA has a major responsibility in providing the Portfolio’s General Manager with in-depth market intelligence for the development of portfolio strategic plans. The PBA also designs and translates portfolio and program strategies into attainable objectives and plans, balancing big picture concerns with day-to-day issues. The incumbent is accountable for demonstrating impact to NRC’s stakeholders and for securing external financial revenue at a level appropriate to the support the programs.
Screening Criteria
Applicants must demonstrate within the content of their application that they meet the following screening criteria in order to be given further consideration as candidates:
Education
Degree in Science, Business Administration or Engineering. Preference may be given to candidates with an advanced degree in one of these areas of study and/or additional training in a related field.
Experience
Recent and significant experience in formulating market assessments on strategic direction, and providing strategic advice on business matters.
Extensive experience in business communications practices necessary to attract and retain key partners, clients and collaborators.
Significant business experience in developing short and long-term strategic partnerships and managing client relationships with private sector firms, government departments and agencies.
Significant experience in leading, and managing human, financial, and project resources in the provision of client management strategies.
Experience in a research or technology development environment is considered an asset.

Salary Range
From $99,900 to $129,700 per annum.
